Accreditation & Reciprocity

At Probie Fire Training, we take accreditation seriously. Every course we deliver is aligned with nationally recognized standards and accredited through the Pro Board system. Accreditation means our training programs meet strict criteria for quality, fairness, and compliance with the applicable NFPA Job Performance Requirements (JPRs). It also ensures that every certificate we issue carries weight across jurisdictions and organizations.

For Department of Defense fire and emergency services, accreditation is only the first step. Recognition inside the DoD system requires a process called reciprocity.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Accredited Course Completion – Students complete a Probie course and successfully pass the proctored exam.

  2. Pro Board Certification – Upon completion, Probie issues an official Pro Board certificate.

  3. Reciprocity Packet – To make the process seamless, Probie provides a ready-to-submit packet that includes the certificate, exam verification, JPR crosswalk, accreditation documentation, and student roster.

  4. Submission to DoD – The student or Fire & Emergency Services Training Manager submits the packet to the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) or the appropriate DoD certification authority, per local policy.

  5. DoD Recognition – Once approved, the certification is added to the firefighter’s official DoD record.
